Joachim Dette (bass), had played violin ever since starting school and didn't switch to the double bass until later.

He first worked with various folk groups, and moved to Berlin in 1984 to study at the Friedrichshain School of Music. Joachim Dette has had lessons from Ray Brown among others, and soon made a name for himself on Berlin's Be Bop scene.

He later started getting interested in the older styles of bass playing and is currently a member of the "Harlem Jazzband", the "Hot Onions" and the "Salon Orchestra Berlin". He joined Roger & The Evolution® in 1997.
